Parts Canada National Series Pirelli Spec Tires 2010

About

Canada was the first major national racing series to experience the benefits of spec or control tire racing and go the way of the World Superbike Championship. Since then, both the Moto-ST series in the U.S. and now the British Superbike Championship have decided to follow in order to help ensure faster and more competitive racing.

Now entering the fifth season of national spec tire racing in Canada, both Pirelli and Orion Motorsports continue to work hard to prepare for an exciting 2010.

Racers can expect new compounds in both DOTs and slicks for 2010. The Diablo Supercorsa offers the very latest DOT racing technology from World Supersport combined with compounds developed and tested on Canadian race tracks.

An objective of the series is to lower the cost of racing and align performances available to all competitors. For this reason Pirelli has defined the following:

  • A set price no matter how many tires you buy
  • An agreed number of selections specific to the Canadian series defined through pre-season testing available to all racers contingent upon the class
  • Usage quantities are limited per rider per event to control costs

How do you get tires?

Do we have to return them in order to purchase more?

Yes, you can use regional Pirelli bucks (contingency certificates earned at regional races) towards the purchase of tires at National events. You must present the final Pirelli certificate at time of purchase.

Rider Requirements

All riders competing in national events must have a Pirelli patch on the front chest or lower front shoulder of racing suit. Vertical Pirelli decals in red, black or white must be placed on both sides of front forks or both fork legs. Horizontal Pirelli decals in white or black must be placed on both sides of the fairing. A smaller decal must be placed on both sides of the seat cowl tailpiece. Under this area is fine too where the bikes have a small tail. Any competitor tire reference must be removed.

Pirelli patches and decals are available from Orion at all National and Ontario/Quebec regional events. They are also available from mspeed in British Columbia and Vicious Cycle in Nova Scotia.

In order to ensure e fast, accurate service for tire installation at the track, riders are required to:
  • Remove any external wheel spacers, cush drives, rubbers, etc.
  • Clean all wheels before they are brought for service.
  • Identify all wheels with rider name and number (sticker is best on inside and outside of rim).
  • Fill out spec tire order/service form.
  • Factory and Pro teams should consider purpose built tire carts in order to assist with moving multiple wheels to the service area for multiple installations.

When is the tire service available?

Thursday      7AM to 7PM     (wheels will not be accepted after 6PM)

Friday           7AM to 6PM     (wheels will not be accepted after 5PM)

Saturday      7AM to 6PM     (wheels will not be accepted after 5PM)

Sunday        7AM to 5PM

Please note that wheels must be dropped off before the designated time to guarantee fitment before 9AM the next day.

Do I need tire warmers?

Tire warmers are not an absolute must. However, they are always recommended for any track use. Proper adjustable tire warmers not only help rider safety but will also help to increase tire life and ultimate performance. We strongly recommend the Flak Jacket digital adjustable tire warmers. These are available from Orion at National and regional events or by phone order for a racer support price of $349.00.

Do I need Nitrogen?

The use of Nitrogen is cheap insurance. The problem with Nitrogen has been obtaining it. Until recently, compressed Nitrogen had to be stored in air tanks. The capacity was just too small to really depend on having it available. This has all changed.

In co-operation with Ingersoll Rand, Orion/Pirelli will now have Nitrogen available at all national races. With the help of an on-board Nitrogen generator, we will be able to produce more than enough Nitrogen to fill every tire in the pit many times over. This will ensure all riders have access to it at all times. There will be a nominal fee but the performance value is well worth the cost. For more information on the benefits of Nitrogen, please visit the Nitrogen Info page.
